FAQ

What are wax melts?

Wax melts are scented pieces of wickless wax. They are designed to release fragrance when they are slowly melted in a wax warmer.

How do I use wax melts?

Simply place desired amount of wax into the well of your wax warmer. Be careful not to overfill you wax warmer to avoid spillage. If you are using an electric wax warmer, simply turn it on and wait about 20 minutes for the scent to fill your room. If you are using a tealight wax warmer, simply light a single, unscented tealight and place in the bottom of your wax warmer and again, wait about 20 minutes for the scent to fill your room.

Is there any safety advice?

  • Never leave a wax warmer unattended when in use
  • Keep out of reach of children and pets
  • Always use a wax warmer on a level & heat resistant surface
  • Keep your wax warmer away from anything that can catch fire
  • Wax melts are not for consumption
  • Do not place wax warmer near a draft, vent or air current
  • Do not use a wax warmer for more than 4 hours a time
  • Use with an unscented tealight
  • Do not move the wax warmer whilst in use
  • Regularly check your wax warmer for cracks & damage
  • Do not overfill your wax warmer
  • Never add water to your wax warmer

What is a wax warmer?

There are two main types of wax warmer; electric & tealight. Tealight warmers are designed to be used with a single tealight candle underneath the dish containing the wax. These are sometimes confused with oil burners. The main differences between wax and oil burners is the size of the dish and the distance from the top of the tealight and the dish. Wax warmers have larger dishes on top and the dish is further away from the tealight flame. This is to ensure that the wax is warmed and not burned. Electric warmers are flameless and are powered by electricity. They should only be turned on whilst there is wax in the dish.

How do I remove the wax from my burner once the scent has dissipated?

There are a few ways to safely remove the wax from the dish of your wax warmer. Whilst the wax is melted, you could use 1 or 2 cotton balls to soak up the wax. Alternatively, you could warm the hardened wax for 1 - 2 minutes and then simply slip the wax melt out of the dish. We recommend cleaning your wax melt warmer with each scent change.

What is the difference between snap bars and wax pots?

The wax and scents are the same in all of the products. The difference is simply the weight of the wax and how it is presented. It is personal preference as to how you like your wax. Some prefer our mini wax pots as some like to try many different scents and change their wax often. Some prefer our snap bars as they are easy to snap and mix.

Why do you use soy wax?

Derived from the soybean, soy wax is a hydrogenated vegetable oil that turns to a solid at room temperature. Soy wax has no artificial components which makes it a better alternative to paraffin wax, which is made from petroleum oil and produces harmful components when burned or melted. Soy wax is non-toxic making it better both for the environment and your health! Soy wax does not release dangerous carcinogens into the air when melted like paraffin wax does. Since soy wax is made from soybeans, it is friendly to the environment because soybeans are a renewable resource. From a safety standpoint, soy wax is the better choice because it has a lower melting point compared to paraffin wax. This means that there is a smaller risk of burns should you accidentally spill any melted wax on your skin.

How long do wax melts last?

It really depends on how much wax you are placing in your wax warmer. We recommend that one chunk of wax from our snap bars can last for up to 10 hours meaning that a whole snap bar can provide up to 50 hours scent. With this in mind, some scents are naturally more potent than others and so this can vary. We use 10% fragrance oil in all of our wax melts to ensure that they are strongly scented and long lasting.

Why is there frosting on my wax melts?

Frosting is actually a unique and natural effect that occurs in soy wax. Frosting occurs when the wax is  trying to return back to its natural form and as a result, it begins to crystallize. It does not affect the performance of the wax melt. It simply shows thay the wax we use is 100% natural. We continue to research on how we can reduce the effects of frosting however, sometimes this can be unavoidable, especially in wax melts with vibrant colour.
